 South campus Observes International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Anantnag June 29. Kashmir University's South campus Anantnag on Wednesday observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the theme "Drug challenges in health and humanitarian crises”. The event was organised by the NSS committee in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Anantnag.

The day-long event was attended by as many as 130 students, teaching and non teaching staff of the Campus Convenor Dr. Irfana Rashid presented a welcome address and gave a brief account of the event. The event was graced by Mir. Wajahat as chief guest.

Director South campus Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad khanday while speaking on the occasion highlighted the role of institutions in dissemination of awareness regarding drug abuse and illicit trafficking. He further stated that schooling starts from home and parents should keep a watch on their children's activities with a view to save them from drug abuse.

Mr. Wajahat Secretary DLSA Anantnag delivered a lecture on "Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking ". He gave an overview of the drug abuse and its repercussions on the life of an individual. He further added that society has a special role in the eradication of drug abuse. Society at large has to act as a torch bearer regarding the mitigation of drug abuse and to sensitise the children vis-a-vis drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Various students read out their poetry regarding the eradication of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. On the occasion an anti drug pledge was read out by the participants .
