The Institute of Nursing, South Campus, University of Kashmir celebrated World Health Day 2025 on April 9 with a vibrant and insightful event centered on the theme “Healthy Beginning, Hopeful Futures.” Held at the Auditorium of the Library Block, the program was organized to raise awareness on pressing public health issues and inspire collective efforts toward better healthcare outcomes.

The event began with an inaugural session featuring the University Tarana, a warm welcome address by Mr. Ab Rouf Bhat, and an insightful unfolding of the theme by Mr. Ishfaq Nazir. Prof. Waseem Bari, Director of South Campus, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of fostering healthy practices early in life to build a hopeful and sustainable future.

A key highlight of the event was the first technical session, chaired by Dr. Fouzia Nazir and Dr. Bilal Ahmad Najar. The session included three impactful keynote addresses. Dr. Fouzia Nazir, Associate Professor & I/C HOD, Community Medicine,GMC,Anantnag, discussed the role of community-based health initiatives in strengthening healthcare delivery. Dr. Bilal Ahmad Najar,Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, focused on pediatric care and the vital need for early interventions in childhood to support long-term health. Joining virtually, Prof. Seema Rani from Rufaida College of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard, shared her insights on the evolving role of nurses in public health and the need for innovation in nursing education. The session offered participants a deeper understanding of current healthcare challenges and the proactive measures needed to address them.

The second technical session, chaired by Prof. Waseem Bari, Dr. Fouzia Nazir, and Dr. Bilal Ahmad Najar, brought a creative and participatory element to the day. Students from different Nursing Colleges presented a theme-based role play, showcasing real-life health scenarios that highlighted the importance of awareness and timely action. This was followed by engaging poster and model presentations by students from various nursing colleges, creatively interpreting the event theme and proposing innovative approaches to healthcare.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, recognizing the contributions and efforts of participants, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Insha Bashir. The day-long celebration was a meaningful blend of academic insight, student engagement, and shared commitment to building healthier, more hopeful futures.
