KU’s South Campus Holds One Day Seminar on the theme Karbala: Sprit and Philosophy.

Anantnag August 18: South Campus Anantnag on Thursday organised a one day seminar on Karbala: Spirit and Philosophy on the theme “Karbala as a Symbol of ultimate sacrifice and spiritual revolution for all human beings”.

The daylong event was held in the auditorium hall of Central Library, which was attended by over 100 participants including faculty, non-teaching staff, scholars and students from various departments of the Campus and also the research scholars of Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal. The event was organised by Assistant Dean Students welfare.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday, Director, South Campus. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khanday while welcoming the guests underscored the ultimate sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions. He apprised the audience about impact of the Karbala on the spiritual revolution for entire humanity. He further stressed upon all the Academic Coordinators of the Campus to conduct awareness programmes/seminar’s on various themes for the welfare of the students.

Dr. Nazir Ahmad Zargar, Coordinator, Department of Religious Studies, Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal was the guest speaker on the occasion. He spoke at length about the historical and philosophical lessons of Karbala. He highlighted the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala and said that Karbala teaches such values which are absolute and so relevant to all times and all people. Dr. Zargar said that events like Karbala are very sensitive in nature and it is always better to concentrate more on lessons we can learn from such events than to discuss them without a sound knowledge.

Besides, Dr. Shabir and Dr. Abid Hussain recited Naat in context with Karbala. While as.Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad Mir spoke about Hazrat Hussain and his companions. Students from various departments also readout poetry and some recited Naat.

Dr. Javaid Iqbal Bhat, Assistant Dean Students Welfare and Convenor of the Seminar, gave a detailed account of the event and later delivered a vote of thanks.

The proceedings of the event were conducted by the student of the Urdu Department namely Mr. Imran Qadir.
