International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

South Campus, Anantnag on Wednesday commemorated the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, aligning with this year's theme, "The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention." 

 
The day-long event witnessed a remarkable participation from faculty, staff, scholars, and students of the campus.
 
 The event was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of South Campus in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Anantnag.
 
Director, South Campus, Prof. Raies Ahmad Qadri, joined the event through virtual mode. In his address, he emphasized the importance of enacting strong and powerful laws to combat the global drug menace that has severely impacted our younger generations. 
 
He further stressed the need to sensitize the general masses about the hazardous impacts of drug and substance abuse.
 
Principal District and Sessions Judge, Anantnag, Mr. Jaffar Hussain Beig, presented a special address through virtual mode.He highlighted the judiciary's role in implementing specific laws to thwart drug abuse in our society and called upon parents to lead efforts in preventing their wards from falling prey to substance abuse.
 
Secretary, DLSA and Sub -Judge Anantnag, Tabassum Qadri, gave a detailed presentation on the role of DLSA in dealing with drug abuse cases. She also highlighted the global and local drug scenarios, focusing on the specific challenges faced in Jammu and Kashmir. 
 
Deputy Chief, LADC, Anantnag, Zakir Hussain Lone, and Assistant LADC, Anantnag, Idrees Ahmad Malik, also spoke on the drug menace and the issues and challenges associated with drug abuse.
 
Earlier, Muhammad Iqbal Bhat, Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, presented a formal welcome address.
 
 Dr. Gousia, faculty at the Department of Management Studies, conducted the proceedings of the event, while as Moomin Jan, faculty at the Department of Education, proposed a vote of thanks.
