VC visit to South Campus and Inauguration of Instituite of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences

The Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences (INPS), South Campus University of Kashmir celebrated
INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY on theme, “Nurses-A voice to Lead: Health is a Human Right” on 14 th May,
2018 at Auditorium of south Campus. Nurses day is celebrated annually all around the world on 12 th of May as
the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale (the foundational philosopher of the
modern nursing) was born on 12 May, 1820. International Council of Nurses established the day in 1974 to be
celebrated every year to highlight the importance of nurses role in providing the best health care services.
Firstly, Inauguration of Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, South Campus University of Kashmir
by Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi (Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir); Mr. Mohammad Younis Malik
(Deputy Commissioner Anantnag); Prof. Musadiq Ahmad Sahaf (Dean Academic affairs, university of
Kashmir); Prof. Khurshid Ahmed Butt (Registrar, University of Kashmir); Prof. Nelofer Khan (Dean-College
Development Council) and Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Zarri (Director South Campus).
After the Inauguration, Dr Arif Akbar Bhat, Academic Coordinator-Institute of Nursing & Paramedical
Sciences, South Campus delivered a welcome speech with brief overview about celebration of Nurses Day &
highlights the immense contribution of above mentioned dignitaries towards the establishment of Institute of
Nursing and Paramedical Sciences.
Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, the Chief Guest on the
occasion complimented the INPS for organizing the event. He appreciated the B. Sc Nursing students and
advised them for providing quality services to patients, emphasizing that their profession is a noble one
which society looks up to.
Prof. Musadiq Ahmad Sahaf, Dean Academic affairs, university of Kashmir, appreciated the INPS for
inspiring first year B.Sc Nursing students to participate in such activities and inculcating research
temperament in them.
Prof. Khurshid Ahmed Butt, Registrar, University of Kashmir also cherished the INPS and well oriented
infrastructure.
Prof. Nelofer Khan, Dean-College Development Council, University of Kashmir, in her talk appreciated the
INPS and said that in future the INPS will be roll model of Kashmir University.
Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Zarri, Director South Campus, delivered vote of thanks and highly praised the illimitable
Contribution of Prof. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi (Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir); Prof. Musadiq Ahmad
Sahaf (Dean, Academic affairs, university of Kashmir); Prof. Khurshid Ahmed Butt (Registrar, University of
Kashmir) and Prof. Nelofer Khan (Dean-College Development Council) towards the organization &
establishment of Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences, South Campus University of Kashmir.
Major highlights in the event were the talk focusing on importance of nurses in health care system and
cultural activities. Efficient management of the event by students was appreciated by all. The event was
attended by all coordinators, faculty members, students of different departments of South campus, university
of Kashmir.
