KU’s South Campus Observes World Environment Day

 
Anantnag, June 05: The National Service Scheme, Unit, South Campus, Anantnag on Wednesday organized an on-campus green walkathon to mark World Environment Day. 
 
 The event was aimed to raise awareness about the critical issues of land degradation and the importance of restoring our ecosystem.
 
The theme for this year's World Environment Day was "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience," under the slogan "Our Land, Our Future." Faculty, students and staff of the Campus participated in a Green Walkathon with great enthusiasm and exuberance. 
 
The green walkathon was flagged off by Prof. Raies Ahmad Qadri from the administration block. The rally passed through various departments and completed a full lap of the entire campus, culminating at the Science Block.
 
Director, South Campus, Prof. Raies Ahmad Qadri, highlighted the pivotal role of educational institutions in mobilizing the community for the restoration of land and the development of a robust and resilient ecosystem. 
 
He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in preventing undesirable changes in our environment.
 
NSS, Programme Officer, Tausif Ahmed Bhat reiterated the campus's commitment to environmental preservation and land restoration.
