INTER DEPARTMENT 6-A-SIDE CRICKET MEN TOURNEY CONCLUDES AT SOUTH CAMPUS ANANTNAG.
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS LIFTS TROPHY
Inter Department 6 -A- Side Cricket Men Championship concluded on Monday here at South Campus, Anantnag. The tournament was organised by the Department of Physical Education & Sports, South Campus Anantnag, University of Kashmir. The event witnessed participation of 16 teams from various Departments of the Campus.The final match of the tournament was played on Monday between Department of Mathematics (Ist Semester) and M.Ed.(Ist Semester).The Department of Mathematics won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first Department of Mathematics scored 73/5 in allotted 10 overs. Danish scored highest 23 runs for Mathematics. Arif of M.Ed. claimed 3 wickets for 15 runs. In reply M.Ed was bundled out on 40/5 in 6 overs. Arif scored 18 runs for M.Ed. Danish and sajad scalped 2 wickets each for Mathematics, thereby Department of Mathematics won the match by 32 runs. Danish was adjudged man of the match for contributing 23 runs with the Willowand scalping 2 wickets.
The prize distribution ceremony was held at Cricket Playfield of the Campus. Medals and trophies were distributed among the winner up and runners up teams by Coordinator, South Campus, Anantnag , Dr. Mohd. Iqbal Bhat, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Parray, Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Tausif Ahmad Bhat and Manzoor Ahmad.
Coordinator, Mohd Iqbal Bhat, while speaking on the occassion congratulated both the teams for making it to the finals of the tournament. He further stressed upon the students to take part the sports activities to be conducted by the Department of Physical Education & Sports, South Campus, Anantnag. He also lauded the efforts of Department of Physical Education & Sports in conducting the Ist ever Inter Department 6-A-Side Cricket Tournament in the Campus. The tournament was earlier thrown open by coordinator, South Campus, Anantnag.
Tausif Bhat, Assistant Director, in his speech congratulated the Department of Mathematics for their emphatic win against the M.Ed. He urged the players that Department of Physical Education & Sports would facilitate them in every possible way to prove their talent by conducting various tournaments in various disciplines.
