Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Science, South Campus, University of Kashmir, Anantnag, Raises Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness in Collaboration with Govt. Medical College, Anantnag.

The Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Science, South Campus, University of Kashmir, Anantnag, in collaboration with the Department of Microbiology, Govt. Medical College, Anantnag, organized a one-day awareness program to address the pressing issue of antimicrobial resistance. The event, held on 24-11-2023, witnessed active participation from healthcare professionals, faculty members from the campus, and students, emphasizing the collective effort required to combat this global health challenge.

The program focused on creating awareness among healthcare professionals and University faculty about antimicrobial resistance and its prevention strategies. Recognizing the pivotal role of nurses in influencing behavioral changes, discussions centered around how nurses can lead in altering public attitudes towards the judicious use of antimicrobials.

Distinguished speakers from the Department of Microbiology, Govt. Medical College, Anantnag, shared insights into various facets of antimicrobial resistance and prevention strategies. Their expertise contributed significantly to the knowledge enrichment of the attendees.

A highlight of the event was a poster-making competition involving student nurses. The creative and engaging competition saw enthusiastic participation, with students from the first and second semesters of B.Sc Nursing securing the top three positions. This initiative fostered healthy competition and empowered the younger generation to contribute to the discourse on antimicrobial resistance.

Dr Mudasir Mohd, Administrative Coordinator of the Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, South Campus, provided a comprehensive welcome address, offering attendees a detailed account of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Mr. Ab. Rouf, expressing gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers for their valuable contributions—the collaboration between the Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Science, South Campus, and Govt. Medical College, Anantnag exemplifies the commitment to addressing critical healthcare challenges through education and awareness.
