A one day seminar was organised on the topic Sheikh Zain ud Din (RA): A torch bearer of communal harmony at South Campus, University Kashmir. The main speakers of the conference were Dr. Samir Siddiqui, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Aatash, Dr. Zulfiqar Siddiqui, Dr. Tanveer Hayat. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof. Mohi ud Din Sangmi. Dr. Javaid Iqbal Bhat, Dept. of English, conducted the proceedings of the seminar. The seminar began at 10:30 am. The seminar began with the recitation of the Quran by Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Raunyal. Director, South Campus, Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Wani formally welcomed the chief guest and distinguished speakers and the audience.The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Samir Siddiqui in which he highlighted the concept of Reshism. That was followed by remarks of the Chief Guest. Prof. Sangmi underlined the role played by reshis of Kashmir. Mr. Ghulam Nabi Aatash in his address linked the reshi culture with the pre Islamic history of Kashmir. Meanwhile, honourable Vice-Chancellor of the university joined the seminar through Zoom and shared his remarks about the topic, and felicitated the organisers for organising the seminar. Dr. Zulfiqar Siddiqui read a research paper on the theme of Reshiyat, in which he elaborated the meanings of reshiyat and reshyuit and linked that with Sheikh Zain ud Din. Mr. Tariq Ahmad Shah enthralled the audience with manqabat, Sakhi Zain ud Din (RA). Besides, some papers were read by some faculty members of Dept. of Urdu. The seminar underscored the importance of understanding Reshism and inculcating the Reshi values in contemporary life. The speakers stressed the role played by reshis in building communal harmony across religious communities. The Director of the Campus, Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Wani, expressed gratitude to the Vice-chancellor, Registrar for selecting South Campus, as venue for the seminar. He congratulated the organisers for the successful completion of the seminar and thanked all the speakers and participants.
