A one-day workshop on "Entrepreneurship & Medical Laboratory Technology: Bridging Healthcare Science with Business Innovation" was held on 4 June 2026 at the University of Kashmir South Campus, Anantnag, jointly organized by the Institute of Paramedical Sciences (IOPS) and the Department of Management Studies. The event brought together approximately 100 participants, including students, professionals, and industry representatives.
The programme featured an inaugural session with addresses by Dr. Mubashir Nazir, Prof. Waseem Bari (Director, South Campus), and a keynote by Prof. Farzana Gulzar on entrepreneurial opportunities in healthcare diagnostics. Technical sessions covered entrepreneurship fundamentals by Dr. Suhail Ahmad, practical guidance on establishing diagnostic laboratories by Dr. Imtiyaz Rashid, and emerging trends in medical diagnostics—including Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Point-of-Care Testing, telehealth integration, and AI applications—delivered by Dr. Mir Muneer Ahmad. Mr. Mansoor Majid also presented on advanced laboratory analysers and equipment selection for startups.
The workshop included a creative skit by IOPS students and an inter-college quiz competition, concluding with an award ceremony. Sponsored by ERBa, Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd., the event successfully promoted entrepreneurial thinking among MLT students and strengthened industry-academia collaboration in Jammu & Kashmir.
